Intermediate coats in a coating system play a very significant role for corrosion control. They give adequate thickness to the total system and provide excellent barrier properties. Incorporation of lamellar pigments like Micaceous Iron Oxide further reduces moisture vapour transmission(MVT).

Epoxy Mastik is a two component epoxy polyamide/amine based coating. This can be used as a primer and also a finish coat. The final finish is semi-glossy. It is available in inert shades generally.
Mastiks are applied for the protection of steel and concrete in severely corrosive atmosphere including marine environments. This is a surface tolerant epoxy, which can be used on under-prepared surfaces also. Since the recommended DFT is higher than normal epoxies, it takes care of the moderately cleaned surfaces.
